Mrs Wigleys Rose to Robbie Williams...........

Image
What seemed to be a quiet weekend turned into one of those busy weekends, well busy on my liver!    Friday night I organised another fabulous wine & cheese tasting event at work, this time South Australia was our region and I frantically ran around (called Kemeny's, ask for Andrew, he is amazing with his knowledge of all things wine) to get appropriate region wine and beer delivered to the office.  My favourite was a Rose crush of mine Mrs Wigley's Grenache Rose - perfect for this time of year (or anytime really). David Jones Food Hall - seriously everyone loves it there (I mean there is food there from all around the world), just a pity that the service is just so slow. Took me 12hrs to find out what cheeses were from South Australia, lucky I had already researched and had a list of products. Needless to say the event went off without a hitch, lots of tasting, drinking and the boys were super happy with Coopers Pale ale. Success. Saturday I had a party for ...

Finally got to climb Mt Fuji!

Image
Last night I conquered the gruelling 1255m up Mt Fuji – 45min from the base ascending up to the 5 th climbing station that has left me still feeling zapped today.   The sun was shining and the sides of the road were covered in snow.   Traffic was light and only a few cars passed us on the ride. Scenic Cycle at Aurora Place is the most amazing little cycle studio.   They have a special on at the moment that you get two rides for $20! Pretty good value for money I say and a great opportunity to try out the studio. The journey is pretty mind blowing and the visual screen making you feel like you are indeed riding outdoors in some amazing part of the world.   A great way to escape I say.   Haven’t done a proper spin/cycle class for a while now as the classes at my gym aren’t as good as the yoga or dance classes and I have been very spoilt with great RPM instructors over the years.   A good friend of mine had been going and her Facebook status ...

Spring is in the air!

Image
September - hello lover! How I love thee warm mornings .... after the last few weeks of rain and lugging around jackets and umbrellas, it was truly lovely to not wear boots and just wear a light cardie to work this fine first day of Spring.    I don't do cold, I hate the cold/wet! It is fine now and then to laze about under a blanket in front of the heater with a glass of red but predominately I love the sun, surf and g&t's!  I love the warmth of the sun and swimming in our gorgeous pools and oceans.   But summer is a little while away yet... so patience must be had!  Besides the summer body is SO far from being revealed (where did my tan go?)!   So many fun things happening this month:-   FMS Photo-a-day (PAD) Challenge If you have been living under a rock you would of missed this fabulous creative challenge that brings so many people together who all take the days word/prompt and capture a picture they feel resonates with ...

I am awesome!

Image
This was my status on Facebook this fine, wet and miserable Monday morning:-   Lately I really have noticed how much more refreshed & focused I am feeling, not because I am not dealing with the stress of everyday life and city living, but because I am choosing to smile everyday,  life is truly a blessing and for enjoying and not worrying about "stuff" so much.  I am just rolling with life and enjoying it every step.  I feel so in control of myself and my body, mind and spirit.  I know that the choices I am making might not work out but I also know that you gotta give life a good shot. I am awesome because of the way I treat not only myself, but others.  I have stopped saying YES to everything to please people, I do what I feel and also try and make time for those important people in my life.   Last week was probably the most stressful week ever this year (aside from a few wedding prep months earlier this year)! I had deadline...

Why hormones are responsible for many things....

Image
Whore-moans, well that is what my Dad used to call them, the poor bastard had to grow up in a house with three women and funnily enough our cycles never really synced so at anytime there would be at least two hormonal females to contend with (not to mention two of them being teenagers) crying or yelling hysterically in his home for many years.  Anyhoo he survived. Hormones are an interesting subject,  you cannot see them but they are functioning and when they are out of whack you certainly feel the difference.  What a lot of women don't realise is that the symptoms they are feeling shouldn't be shrugged off as "normal", being a busy woman, working or with kids is enough without your hormones causing havoc.   Mine are all out of whack.  I really notice this coming off the pill in the last few months also has not helped.  Mood swings, tired, irritable, weight gain... sound familiar.    When they're working right...

Seasonal depression.....

Having experienced mild depression and knowing it can arise at anytime, I wanted to do a post about how I handle my depression, especially as we come into winter, where for most people it can get worse.  Being hyperactive means that I am prone to down days when I feel low, sad and removed from society.  I don't always show these feelings to others (the tough one) but have learnt how to understand the black dog a little more.  I have been lucky to understand how my mild depression works and ways I can limit those dark days when the black dog comes to visit and even though he comes to visit from time to time I find a way to use those days to re-evaluate and work through my feelings.    Know one thing, depression is common, more common than you think.  It isn't a weakness and it should be something that needs to be talked about.  It can happen at any point in your life and when everything seems to be going very well, ...
