All about breathing in, out and letting go.

Had the most enjoyable yoga class today at Hard Candy... I try and get to Deb's class every Wednesday lunchtime because it really makes me appreciate life, and forget the shit that we hold onto and how unimportant it really all is in the big scheme of things.    An hour of stretches, breathing in a room heated to 37 degrees makes me let go of unnecessary worry and also stretches out and strengthens my tall body.   It is truly a perfect way for me to get fitter and also look after my mental state, because sometimes we can get so caught up in life, that we forget to just let go.  We hold on to far too much energy that can make us feel heavy, flat and we need to let that shit go, the conversation you had three days ago with a friend, let it go, the guy who cut you off in traffic this morning, let it go.   Life is too short to worry about crap... we need to get out of our own mind and experience other thoughts and experience instea...

Living life to the fullest....

Waking up everyday is a true blessing.  Life is totally what you make of it, sit in the cheap seats and of course you won't get the full experience you imagined.  Make your way to the front row of your life and experience things that you love & fear will make life so much more rewarding.  What do you ultimately want to look back on and be proud of in your life?  Mistakes are to be made, no such thing as perfect, awesome will do! Learn from life, experience all that life has to give and just jump into the unknown.  I know for me I have so much I want to achieve and the list keeps changing which is a great thing - who wants to have the same list for 20 years? Boring, my mind has new ideas everyday.  Some things that are on my personal list..... * Kayaking on Sydney Harbour * Visiting fresh food markets in Sydney * Visit Messina Darlinghurst - the line is always going to be there! * Visit at least one new place in Australia (Cairns...

Needing a new project.......

Where on earth has this year gone?  I tell you what organising a wedding for ONE day makes five months just disappear!    The wedding was a truly one of the best days ever in  my life, a  fantastic day, really enjoyed the day we had planned and I think my family and friends would agree it was a fun day filled with laughter, tears, champers, selfies and lots of dancing!  Perfection.   Married life is going well, I know they say nothing changes when you get married but I feel content now and I just love Drew even more and looking forward to the next few phases of our life together.  I do however need a new project to fill my creative mind.  The must get fit and healthy for a baby project is ticking along (could be ages before a wee little Jones is conceived) but getting fit and healthy will be a great focus, especially now being 40 which adds a few extra tests at the yearly physical with my doctor.  Enjoyin...

Becoming Mrs Jones.....

Image
This is a little diary I kept on the journey to becoming Mrs Jones.  I wanted to capture the last months of being Drew's fiance to becoming his wife.  A journey that I honestly truly never imagined in my wildest dreams would come true, to meet someone I love with all my heart, to share my life with.  To love each other daily, to cherish each other and to be that person's everything.  26.06.13 Today I brought MY wedding dress!!  After finding out Lisa Ho was going bust I thought "best I have a look at her shop in Strand Arcade" and so in my lunch hour with the help of my gorgeous Maid of Honour Anita, I purchased my wedding dress.  In true Donna style, quick, easy and organised, no faffing around.  This was a huge relief as I truly did not want a Muriel's Wedding Style dress or wasting many hours trying on big frilly, fluffy fru-fru dresses in the stores you drive past on Parramatta Road. Not for me. I love my dress, it is me. That is what I...

Freak out man you are turning 40!    Nah not this chick (see how I go on Sunday when the clock officially ticks over....)  I am a very happy person today partly because it is Friday and I did an amazing Hatha Yoga session at lunch which just totally zen'd me out and any work problems today are just being handled so easily.   Plus on my desk  sits two bottles of champers darlings! All for me... mmmmm bubbles are a girls best friend (screw diamonds they don't give you an awesome buzz).    I am feeling pretty content with myself at this point in my life, a couple years ago when I was depressed Bridget Jones style on a Friday night finishing off a bottle of red wine AND Ben & Jerry's watching SATC I promised myself that I would not measure myself by the things I had NOT done but by the fabulous things life has given me.  Yes I was single back then but I also promised myself that just being happy with my daily life an...

My favourite skin products!

Image
I have noticed after completing Febfast last month my skin has totally cleared up - no annoying pimples in the oily t-zone region (hello, I am nearly 40! Damn hormones).  Could be a mix of reverting back to my fav facial cleanser and the fact I have given up most processed foods, caffeine, sugar and alcohol. Coincidence, I don't think so.  I always talk about fitness and nutrition - skin health is important too, obviously you can do a lot from the inside out with hydration & nutrition but a good simple skin regime is also vital.   I have also gone back to using my favourite facial cleanser which is so cheap and works wonders, no harsh chemicals and keeps my skin looking young, fresh and healthy.  I love my little array of jars and potions on my tall boy chest of drawers & the little daily rituals after having a shower and preparing for the day or for bed.  I don't like to  spend my money on expensive products because I don't believe that t...

Drug courier to weekend underage drinking.... why Febfast means so much to me.

Day 10 of febfast today - the weekend was a nice quiet one with lots of physical activity to keep me busy so my brain didn't want coffee and wine.  In the big scheme of things I might be a little grumpy  for 28 days because I cannot have my cup of brew when I want too but first world problems really.  It puts into perspective at how quickly someone's life can be ruined by addiction.  We all walk around thinking it will never happen to us or someone we know, but unfortunately that is not the case.   We’ve all heard the media stories, ‘Teenagers and alcohol: a deadly cocktail!’. Money raised through febfast goes to programs which help the most vulnerable of these young people and families who are tackling serious alcohol and drug issues.     As a young teenager, I was first inspired to donate to alcohol and drug rehabilitation by my Mum.  Every year she used to get a letter from a rehabilitation house in Sydney (we lived in...
